No No Hair System - This Hot Little Gadget Is Heating Up The Hair Removal Circuit

!: No No Hair System - This Hot Little Gadget Is Heating Up The Hair Removal Circuit

After watching the infomercial on the Home Shopping Network a few times, I thought I would take the plunge and try out the No No Hair System 8800. I got it through their web site so that I could get the 60 Day Trial promotion just to be sure. Although I wasn't expecting to be hairless after 60 days, it would be enough time to get a good feel for it and decide whether I wanted to keep it.

The following review is based on the No No Hair System 8800 as opposed to the No No "Classic", which is their original unit. I wanted a unit that I could use on my face, and the 8800 was it since the Classic is not recommended for the facial area. Although the No No Hair System 8800 (0) is more expensive than the Classic (0), it is definitely worth the extra to have the option to use it on my upper lip. In this review I try to cover every aspect of the product to answer the question does No No work, and help you make an educated decision.

No No Hair System Claims

It's pain free It costs less than laser systems It is safe for all skin types It is effective on all hair and skin colors You get up to 94% reduction in hair growth

It's important to note that the No No Hair System is not a permanent hair removal system, nor is the length of time to see results as good as those of professional laser hair removal or electrolysis. And remember, professional laser hair removal is also not permanent. In any case, with repeated and continued use, No No Hair System does considerably lessen the density and growth of hair on all targeted areas. The thermal or heat technology used, directly affects the hair follicle and delays and disrupts future hair growth.

It's been 4 months for me and I would say I've experience 80% hair reduction on my legs and 100% on my upper lip. That's huge! I haven't used it in any other area yet. Keep in mind, that the No No Hair System, like any other (heat, light or professional laser) hair removal system, it is often time consuming, with applications recommended 2-3 times weekly for a minimum of 8 weeks. Personally, this is not a big deal for me since I'm watching TV when I "no no".

The Review

The question is, does No No work or is it just a bunch of empty promises? Well, it may not be perfect, but I was happy to buy it after the 60 day trial period was over. Here's why...

I got my No No Hair System in the mail 1 week after I placed my order from their website. The system comes with the unit itself, a charger, a quick user's guide, an after treatment lotion, 2 hot blades (a small and a large), a handy carrying case, a skin buffer and a little cleaning brush so you can clean the blades and the unit head.

The first thing I noticed is that the 8800 is thinner and taller than the Classic (which my friend has). It is cordless so all you need is to charge it and you don't have to spend money on buying batteries, which was a complaint a few people had about the "Classic". Once you charge it, you unplug it and start using it. I mention that because some electronic stuff needs to be plugged in while you use it - the No No Hair System 8800 doesn't. The unit has a display that shows how much battery life is left which is also handy since you don't want to go dead in mid-treatment, charge it and then have to remember where you were last.

How To Use No No Hair System

As you know, the No No Hair System was created to remove unwanted hair from the face, legs, arms, underarms, back and bikini line - almost all the areas of hair growth except that you cannot use the No No Hair System on your genitals or the breasts - so the areola (the ring of pigmented skin surrounding the nipple) is out. Many people do have hair in the areola so I would suggest tweezing those areas. The No No Hair System is based on Thermicon technology, which basically means it uses heat energy to zap hairs all the way to the root.

Here's how easy it is to use: hold the No No Hair System device at a 90 degree angle over the targeted area and move it slowly in a straight line. No No Hair System has a little light on the front of the unit that stays green when the device is being used the right way. That's it. Make sure to follow instructions. For instance, let's say you're doing your arms.

Start on one end and glide the No No Hair System device at a 90 degree angle to the other end. When you reach the end, make sure to lift the unit. Don't stop it on your skin and let it sit there or you may experience a slight burn. Remember it uses heat to zap the hairs. Don't worry... it doesn't hurt.

Before you start treatment with the No No Hair System, you need to ensure your skin is clean and dry, and that you're using the right-sized blade that comes with the system, for the area you are targeting. If you are doing your upper lip, use the smaller blade, if you're doing your arms, use the bigger blade. The No No Hair System is an absolute no-brainer when it comes to ease of use.

It's important to note that the No No Hair System folks tell you that to attain good hair reduction, the No No Hair System should be used 3 times per week on intended areas, particularly in the beginning of your treatment phase, for a period of about 6-8 weeks. I would go a bit further and say that if you can use it more often, do so. You will see better results and there are no side-effects to using it more. But it really depends on how sensitive your skin is, how much time you have, how much hair, your skin type, etc. I was using it 4-5 times per week for the first month.

My No No Hair System Results

I have been using the No No Hair System 8800 for just over 4 months now. I have dark, naturally curly hair with olive complexion, so I'm considered an "excellent" candidate for laser hair removal (see the skin type chart in the Laser Hair Removal post). My personal experience has been very good but that will vary depending on your hair and skin color/type. To find out your skin and hair type, please see my post on Laser Hair Removal and scroll down to find the Fitzpatrick Chart. I have also read reviews on people of different hair and skin types who have been using the No No Hair System, and the majority have been positive in their reviews, having experienced good to significant hair reduction.

After 6 Weeks Using The No No Hair System

When I started using the No No Hair System I didn't follow the instructions and used it 1-2 per week for the first 2 weeks and saw little results (some hair reduction, probably 10%). I was traveling for work at that time and just couldn't be consistent with it. But once the dust settled I started to use it 3 - 5 times per week and started to see great results after the fourth week.

There was definitely good hair reduction already, I would say around 40%, but the best part is, my hair was growing in much softer than usual. My skin wasn't totally smooth yet, and there was a soft stubble in the hairiest part of my legs (the shin) where my hair is more coarse. I continued to shave as usual during the first month to get 100% hair-free results, but I did find my skin getting increasingly smoother. By the way, I've been using it on my legs and my upper lip only.

Please note that I am not recommending you use it as often as I do (4 times per week). I did and it is fine for me - I don't experience any burning or side effects but everyone is different. I am a good candidate for laser hair removal according to the "Fitspatrick" Skin chart so I'm assuming my skin type can handle it.

Treatment on my legs takes me around 30 minutes (I take my time and do it right, while I watch TV), and around 7 minutes for my upper lip, which is still much less time than going to a salon or clinic specially if you throw in travel time.

My trial period was going to end in 2 weeks but I had seen enough - "chaching"! I bought it!

After 10 Weeks of Using The No No Hair System

I found that after 10 weeks I started to shave much less - about once a month just to "clean up" the few hairs that are still growing. I will now start to use an epilator on my legs since I don't have enough hairs to actually shave. All I have now is new hair growth.

It's been 4 months since I started to use my No No Hair System and I haven't shaved my legs in 5 weeks, and still going.... This is a huge benefit. I do have some hairs but they are so soft and light, I can't see them so I'm not worried about it yet. Okay....After 5 weeks of not shaving my legs and not seeing any hair growth on my upper lip, I'm falling in love with my No No Hair System.

The Hot Blades

You will eventually have to replace the No No Hair System blades. The company tells us that you should replace them after about 1 month but I disagree. It's been almost 3 months for me and only now am I ready to replace it. I already ordered a package of 3 blades for about . A colleague at work has the No No Hair System and although she uses it less than me, she has only replaced it twice in about 10 months. She has the Classic unit and bought hers last year. Nevertheless, mine lasted 2 months longer than they were supposed to so don't spend your money unless you have to. Gauge it for yourself.

Oh That Smell...

Because the No No Hair System removes hair with thermal or heat energy, it generates a smell of burning hair that is certainly unpleasant. To decrease the odor, I only use my No No Hair System in well-ventilated areas or near an open window. Depending how much it bothers you, you may want to wash the treated area or take a shower after treatment (especially if you're going out for a night on the town)!

What's It Going To Cost Me?

The cost of hair removal is certainly one of my key concerns when making a choice between hair removal systems. No No Hair System sells for 0 which is much cheaper than professional laser hair removal. You will also have to factor in the cost for new blades which costs for a pack of 3. Although the No No hair system comes with a buffer and smoothing cream, you won't need to reorder this really. I don't use the buffer, I just use a cloth to rub the hair off and I use my own natural skin lotion.

Keeping in mind that a professional laser hair removal session (1 session) costs between 0 (upper lip) to 0 (back) depending on the body part, 0 is very economical in comparison. Also, considering that laser hair removal involves a few treatment sessions to achieve long-lasting results, it is definitely the most expensive option available.

The "Ouch" Factor

Another consideration with any hair removal treatment is the risk of pain or adverse reactions.

This is an important consideration for many people when it comes to choosing not only their preferred hair removal method but also the system. How does the No No Hair System score on the pain scale?... is the No No Hair System painless? Yes, absolutely. The No No Hair System is indeed painless on my skin, my friend's skin, and on the users I researched online. Outside of a warm feeling and a slight tingling sensation, there is no pain.

As you glide the No No Hair System over your skin, it detects hair and zaps it - in other words, in burns or "crystallizes" the hair. Because of that, there is a distinct odor of burning hair that lingers in the air. Unpleasant, yes. But not a deal breaker. This bad smell was the one complaint most users had. The No No Hair System can cause accidental burns if you don't use it correctly or if you use it in the wrong areas. I did get "burned" once because I used it the wrong way but it was so mild I don't consider it a burn.

The Final Word

The majority of users I found online (as well as my friend and I), found a significant improvement in hair reduction with consistent, repeated use of the No No Hair System. In addition, No No Hair System does seem to work for all skin and hair types - I know of two for a fact: dark brown hair with olive skin (me) and light blonde hair with fair complexion (my friend, although her hair reduction was less in the same length of time).

Your individual preference and needs will dictate what hair removal system is best for you. If what you want is a system that will give you a very long reprieve from hair growth, and money is not a concern, than professional laser hair removal is a good alternative. Who doesn't like to lay back and be pampered? But if you are concerned with cost and want to significantly reduce hair re-growth for a reasonable length of time then the No No Hair System is definitely worth the 0 onetime cost.

If you think you just have to run the device over your skin a few times to have perfectly smooth skin, you will be very disappointed with every hair removal system including professional laser hair and this one.

On the other hand, if you're prepared to follow instructions and use it regularly for a few months, then you'll be happy with your purchase. Just do it near an open window... because it smells a bit. Follow directions, do it right, be patient and give it time! Don't forget, the No No Hair System is now risk-free for 60 days. That's plenty of time to return it for a full refund if you don't like it.

I hope this review has helped set the right expectations for the product if you do choose to go with it. When I'm asked "does No No work", my answer is a resounding yes. Bottom line, I had realistic expectations when I bought the product and I'm very happy with my purchase of the No No Hair System.

Sexual Cannibalism and Oral Sex - What Do You Taste Like?

!: Sexual Cannibalism and Oral Sex - What Do You Taste Like?

Sexuality, amongst humans, is so diverse and dynamical that it's impossible to even begin to learn even the basics of what turns people on or off; and, as the old adage goes: The more you learn the less you know. Such is the case with human sexuality. When one begins to explore its very basic foundations, an entire spectrum of unimagined roads are just waiting to be travelled. Even seemingly benign roads, like The Oral Sex Highway, allow us access to sexual tarmac that has a beginning with no apparent end.

Here are some interesting expressions you've probably heard:

"I'm dining at the 'Y' tonight."

"I have a sexual hunger that no single man can satisfy."

"I couldn't take my eyes of off him, he was just so yummy."

"I love eating my honey."

"He was so sexy, I just wanted to devour him."

"His sexual appetite is bottomless."

"I craved her flavor and was just dying to eat her out."

"She was one dish I'd had my eyes on for a long time, I knew she'd be a tasty treat."

"I fed her every inch of my beef steak."

"He was so cute, I just wanted to gobble him up."

"I feasted on her luscious breasts."

Last but certainly not least, the lyrics from the song, "You Shook Me All Night Long" by AC/DC:

"[She] made a meal out of me and came back for more..."

There seems to be a very clear link with sexuality and satisfying this sexual "hunger." After all, we use our mouths, even more than our genitals for sex. Our mouths are sexual organs we use to kiss, to lick, to taste, to bite, to drink, to nibble, to eat, to suck, and to devour our sexual partners, their sexual organs, and their sexual fluids.

And why not? People love to eat good food. When we are hungry and we eat something, we feel satisfied and we feel full. Imagine a delicious meal, your favorite dish, and how fantastic it will taste. Eating such delicious foods is pleasurable. It feels great to eat wonderful food.

Olfaction (smell) has something to do with it, too. Olfaction is clearly linked to taste. Just remember as a child what you did when you had to eat something that you didn't want to. What did you do? You pinched off your nose, opened your mouth, popped the offensive food in your mouth, chewed it, and ingested it. Blocking off the smell made the food more palatable, as you couldn't "taste" it as much.

Olfaction, not only has a lot to do with enhancing the flavor and attracting us to foods that we like, but also plays a large part in sex. How is that not surprising? We bathe to smell cleaner and more appealing. We apply perfumes to scent our bodies. We brush our teeth and use mouthwash to sweeten our breaths... Having a nice and pleasing scent is part of sexual attraction.

But not just from these externally-applied scents. Our bodies produce our own scents and smells to attract partners. Pheromones are a great example of this. Personally, when I meet a woman I am really attracted to, there's nothing more I sexually desire than to place my head between her legs and smell her natural perfume. Time, quite literally, stops for me as I inhale her. This initial smell is so fantastic that it is indescribable. Then, having been so whetted, I proceed with oral sex. Of course, au naturel is preferred, with no artificial flavors or preservatives.

Some scents are attractive to some people, some are unattractive. The list is endless of bodily smells that turn people on and off. For example, some men like the smell of a woman's sweaty shoe, while other men aren't so keen on this odor.

So, we know that smell is linked with enhancing the flavor of something we eat or drink. Just walk into the office canteen after someone has made some microwave popcorn. First you smell it, then you can actually taste it, and, in most cases, you wished you had a bag of it to eat for yourself!

Having enough food to eat is one of the most basic needs people have. It's part of our survival. It's quite simple: Without food and water we die. This makes "hunger" deeply wired into the most primal part of our brains. What's that saying... "Nobody wants to make love when they're hungry." That's certainly true.

As infants, we are held to our mother's bosom and comforted. We feel safe, protected, and warm. As the infant sucks on his mother's nipple, he also curbs his cravings for hunger. Imagine an infant, who is completely powerless and helpless in the world, to feel the warmth and protection of his mother; while he is getting his belly filled and hunger cravings satisfied at the same time...

No wonder it feels so good to eat. It takes us back to our first moments on this planet, moments when we were warm, safe, and protected. With no fears, no mortgage, no unemployment, and no bills.

Along with eating and drinking, sex is also a part of our primal brains. We were designed to be highly sexual creatures. If we weren't we would fail to reproduce and our race would become extinct. This is how we are wired and it is an important aspect of our primal brains. Once our bellies are full, we want to fulfill our sexual appetite, too.

With oral sex we are able to feel the nourishment, warmth, and comfort of our first meals as infants, we are able to satisfy our cravings for our sexually-based hunger, and we are able to truly become satiated, more so than by just food alone. Oral sex, then, is certainly that last piece of dessert that makes everything taste better and more fulfilling (that little reward that helps make life worth living).

Oral sex, remember, is any form of sexuality your perform with your mouth. Be it kissing, sucking, or licking.

What's even more fantastic is the use of scent and smells to further make our sexual meals even more delicious and appetizing.

It's amazing what we take for granted in something that seems as simple as oral sex. We just go about our oral ways, without thinking much about the entire process, but there are a lots of things going on behind the sexual curtain that make it all possible.

Which brings us to cannibalism (now, there's a change of subject!). This is the act where a member of a species eats, as food, their own species. Like a dog who would eat another dog, or, as we used to see in the old jungle and exploration Hollywood movies, with human beings who eat other human beings as a food source. According to the encyclopedia, cannibalism among humans was popular and quite widespread throughout the world up until the 19th century.

So, if I perform oral sex on a woman and dine on her deliciousness, drink her wine, and absorb her juices into my own body, via my mouth, is this not a form of cannibalism? Am I not "eating" and ingesting her? Sexual cannibalism, perhaps? After all, I am dining on her to satisfy my sexual hunger and to further quench my gastronomical hunger (as well as to please her, of course!).

What if a woman swallows a man's seminal output after performing fellatio on him? What does that make her? This fluid will be broken down by her intestinal system and will be utilized to make new cells and tissue for her own use.

Sexual Cannibalism, apparently, is a real event and has been scientifically defined. It is the act of one species (usually a female) that consumes her mate before, during, or after they have sex. Black Widow Spiders are an example.

Of course, with natural-human oral sex, most of us want to come back for seconds, thirds, fourths, and so on; so we can't be classified as "real" sexual cannibals, as we don't truly devour and actually "eat" or sexual friends. We just like the way they taste.

What do you taste like?

Baby Registry Checklist - What You Really Need

!: Baby Registry Checklist - What You Really Need

So you are having a baby, now comes the whirlwind of figuring out what you need. You look up checklist and window shop baby stores only to be overwhelmed with all of the products, some of which you may not even know what they are! Most first time parents are on a tight budget and with the price of many baby products you need to figure out what is a necessity and what is a luxury.

Don't worry; here is a checklist of what you really need on the first day, what you can wait on and what you will not use at all!

• Car seat - This is the most important thing because you will have to have it to bring the baby home. For the best deal you can purchase a Travel System. A travel system comes with a car sear base, carrier, and stroller. The stroller will allow you to put the carrier in to use as a newborn and then by itself as they grow.

Nursery:

• Crib, Cradle, Bassinet - If you have a nursery for your baby, you may want them close to you for a while. If so, you will need some sort of cradle or bassinet. If this is the case you can save for a crib if needed. If you are living in a small space you may want to just get a crib and forget the smaller bed. When looking for a Crib, think about getting a converter bed. Either 3 in 1, which will go to a toddler/daybed, or 4 in 1, that goes to first a toddler/daybed and then a full size will get you the most use. Whatever you choose you will need to put the baby in something when you get home.

• Dresser and Changing Table - These are both handy but the changing table is not a necessity. If you do choose to buy these you can get a changing table that you can turn into a bookshelf later. Nursery 101 is a brand that you can buy a 3 in 1 Crib, Dresser, and Changing Table all together for a very reasonable price. It can be cheaper than some cribs by themselves.

• Rocking Chair - This is not something that you need right off and if at all. Yes it may be convenient to have but do not have to have it. They can be expensive and you might not use it that long.

• Nursery Decor - When I say this I mean bedding set with crib skirt, bumpers and comforter. Each person has to decide what price range they would like to spend on this; the range can be very wide so shop around. Keep in mind that this might be something that you can reuse again, but don't break the bank if you need to buy a lot of items. If you are going to have the baby in your bedroom for a bit you may a little wiggle room on buying this but keep in mind that with a newborn you will have less free time, you don't want to leave everything to the last minute.

• Mobile - Usually the mobile does not come with the bedding set & this will be bought separately. You can wait on this if the baby will be in cradle or bassinet first.

• Night Light - This not something you will need until you have, at best, a toddler. By then the room may have completely different dcor. If you want one to have just a little light for middle of the night changes and feedings go with a lamp. You will have not only a light but also decoration.

• Mattress - Make sure when you buy this the measurements match those of the crib, you don't want cracks around the edges. Again you will have a wide price range with this.

• Sheets - Whether you have a crib, cradle, bassinet, or two of these you need sheets. You should have three sheets so that if one is washing another is on the bed and then if that one is wet you have another.

• Mattress Pad - These can come in a pack of two and that would be enough.

• Blankets - You don't have to go crazy with these, but you have two types that you will need. You will need receiving blankets to swaddle the baby for a little while when you come home, a good number would be a week's worth. You want to have enough so that you are not rushing to do more laundry than necessary. The other type of blanket you might want would be a "baby" blanket. This is more of a soft cute blanket, maybe with the baby's name on it. These can also be used when taking the baby outside, depending on weather. You may want to get one to use to carry with you and if you like, one for his room. You can end up with too many blankets so be careful.

• Swaddle Wrap - If you would rather use a wrap to swaddle than receiving blankets then you will need this. Remember that when deciding how many you will need that the blankets will be cheaper. Also if you learn how to properly swaddle the wrap is not needed.

• Monitor - You will have to decide what you want depending on budget and comfort level. The prices can range anywhere from about to around 0. You can go for one with video or just one receiver. Also remember that if the baby is going to be in your room you will not need this until the he is in his own room, unless you need one for naps.

Feeding: When deciding what you need for feeding you will have to think about whether or not you will breast or bottle feed.

• Bottles - Even if you breastfeed you need to go ahead and have a few bottle handy. You do not know how breastfeeding will work out. You might have to either supplement with formula or pump and bottle feed. If either of these circumstances occurs, you do not want to be without bottles. If you decide to use Playtex Bottles you will also need liners.

• Nipples - You might want to think about buying extra nipples for the bottles you bought.

• Bottle Sterilizer - This is not necessary, you can sterilize in a pot on the stove. For everyday just make sure you wash in hot water and soap.

• Bottle Warmer - This also is not necessary, when you need to warm a bottle you can do it at the sink with hot water.

• Bottle Rack - This is a good idea because even if you have a dish rack, these are specifically made to hang bottles, nipples, pacifiers, even the bottle brush.

• Bottle Brush - You need this because they are made to get in the nipples and bottles that are hard to clean.

• Breast Pump - These are expensive, so make sure you are sure of the brand and type you want before you purchase. They range in price and also in performance. The most popular brand is Medela; they have a wide price range to choose from. Also you can check with the Lactation Consultant that the hospital for information on renting one. If you plan on breastfeeding and will be going back to work, you will need one to start pumping soon to build up a supply.

• Storage Bags - If you are pumping you will need storage bags.

• Nursing Pillow - This is not necessary but nice to have, it is good for both nursing & bottle feeding. You can also you this as a little seat to prop baby up on. Be sure to get extra slip covers.

• Formula - Check first with the pediatrician to see what to buy. You should not buy a lot just in case you have to switch formulas.

• Highchair - You will not need this until about 4 months when you might start on some solids like cereal. Like many, you may be worried about space for a high chair, but you can get a Space Saver chair that fits onto a chair.

• Bibs - You will need these not only when you start baby on solids, but you might also want to start using them when the baby starts teething, because of the access saliva. You will need a good number of these, at least two a day.

• Pacifier - Go ahead and get different kids with different shapes, you do not know what kind the baby will like.

Diapering:

• Diapers - Go ahead and start buying now, but make sure that you get a variety of sizes. Babies do not stay in the newborn size for very long.
• Wipes - You can start buying these too, you will go through these fast.
• Rash Cream - You will need only one or two tubes of this.
• Diaper Bag - You might want to get two, one bigger for longer trips, and another small one that can be used all other times. If you need to only purchase one, I would suggest getting a smaller one; you will not want to lug the big one everywhere.
• Trash Can - Many will invest in a Diaper Genie, but you can get by with just a trash can with a top. Just make sure you take the trash out!

Bathing and Health:

• Bath Tub - You can get by without one of these for a few weeks. This is because until the umbilical cord falls off you, you will not submerge it in water. Rather than that you would sponge bath.
• Wash Cloths - You don't need too many of these because a baby does not need a bath every day. A weeks worth should be fine.
• Hooded Towels -You should be fine with about three.
• Baby Wash and Shampoo - You can get a Head to Toe wash and that will cover both. You should first start with fragrance free for baby's skin.
• Baby Oil - You will not need this much either buy when you need it or just go with a small bottle.
• Vaseline - This is needed if you have a baby boy who was circumcised.
• Rubbing Alcohol - You will need this if your pediatrician recommends it for the umbilical cord.
• Baby Q-tips - One box will be plenty.
• Nasal Aspirator - You will need one of these on the first day.
• Baby brush and Comb - You can either buy these separately or in a kit with other grooming products.
• Baby Nail Clippers - They are smaller & can also be purchased in a kit.
• Baby Thermometer - This is another product that will range in price and a few different choices. You can go with a pacifier, rectal, underarm, oral, ear or forehead.
• Humidifier - You don't have to get one right off, but this is a great thing to have with cold and allergies. You have a many choices, filter or no filter, high or low mist, cool or warm.

Safety Items:

• Smoke and Carbon Monoxide alarms - These are general safety items that you should already have.
• Gates, Locks, Outlet Cover - You don't really have to worry about any of these until you have a crawler.

Other Miscellaneous item:

None of these are really a necessity, but you will get use out of them.

• Bouncer Seat - This is a wonderful thing. You want to have a place to set the baby during the day.
• Swing - Same thing as the bouncer seat, you will want places to set and soothe baby. You can either get both the swing and/or seat separately or you can now get a 2 in 1 product.
• Activity Mat - These are meant for small babies with overhead toys. You can choose between prices and sizes to suite you.
• Walker and Jumper - You will not use these until baby is much bigger. You may not also want both of these.
• Baby Seat - You will start to use these when they get good enough head control. The big brand is Bumbo and you have to purchase a tray separately. Another brand is Summer Infant Super Seat; it comes with a tray for snacks with toys attached and also turns into a booster seat.
• Picture frames - You can get these with spaces for each month or hand and foot prints.
• Baby Book/Scrapbook - Although it is not a necessity, it is something you will want to get.

Clothes:

These will be up to you how much you want or need, just remember what season it will be when picking sizes. Also if you are having a shower, expect lots of clothes.

Mother's Needs:

Most forget to tell new mother what they will need after birth, these items are not glamorous but they will be needed and you will be glad that you don't have to send someone out for them.

• Breast Pads - Even if you are not breast feeding you will need some.
• Nursing Bra and Nipple Cream - If you are Breastfeeding
• Stool Softeners, Pads, Witch Hazel Pads - All for your comfort

It is a long list but babies are a lot of work and completely worth it. If you plan on having more than one child you might want to think about buying some item in a neutral color. Make sure that if you are going to be on a tight budget and someone will be throwing you a shower that you register for what you need. It is very easy to get caught up when registering and scan things that you will never use. A lot of people will not use your registry but for the ones that do, they will know exactly what you need. Others may not shop off of it but may look at it to get ideas. Some mothers like to wait until after the shower to buy up what they did not get; this is a great way to avoid more returns. If you do start to shop before, make sure you keep receipts in case you get a double. Don't be afraid to take thing back, most people would rather you get something you need and can get use from, rather than having twenty blankets you will never use.

I hope my list is helpful!

Tongue Tied Babies - Problems and Corrections

!: Tongue Tied Babies - Problems and Corrections

Identifying tongue tied infants

Ankyloglossia, or commonly referred to as a "tongue tie", is a condition seen in newborns when the lingual frenulum (the connecting membrane that supports the tongue) is short. The act of cutting the frenulum is called a lingual frenectomy. Two types of frenectomies exist. There are labial frenectomies (membrane is attached toward the lips) and lingual frenectomies (membrane is attached at the tongue). A labial frenectomy is performed when the frenum pulls on the gum tissue.. A tissue pull can cause the recession of gum tissue or the exposure of a root surface. A tongue tied infant can have a moderate to severe issue with their tongue. A severely tongue tied infant is when the frenulum of the child is attached from the tip of the tongue to the lower mandible gum tissue. This problem allows only the sides of the tongue to lift and move and not the center. When the tongue is lifted, it gives the tongue the appearance of a heart shape.

Problems related to tongue tied infants

This issue presents problems for the child. Tongue tied babies often have difficulty breastfeeding as well as bottle feeding. A tongue tied child typically has problems latching onto the breast as well as issues with maintaining suction. The child may make clicking noises while nursing and have problems maintaining proper suction which allows the nipple to easily fall out of the mouth due to the lack of negative pressure.

For proper nursing to occur, the infant needs to be able to latch onto the mother's areola with their upper gum ridge and tongue extended out over the bottom gums. When the infant begins to suckle, the tongue and jaw move forward in a wavelike motion. Upon nursing the tongue begins to ripple back and forth towards the throat while the lower jaw squeezes milk from the sinuses or ductiles. This process causes tongue depression which leads to subsequent swallowing and negative pressure. When a child is tongue tied the tongue cannot extend over the lower jaw. Since the tongue cannot extend properly, the mother's nipple cannot extent into the soft palate.

Problems for nursing mothers with tongue tied babies

This insufficient latching often causes a "chomp" which is when the mandible bites down onto the mother's nipple. This causes a lot of maternal pain. In addition, splitting of the nipples, ischemia, and greater incidence of mastitis can occur. Many nursing difficulties are correlated to a tongue tie issue.

Correcting tongue tied issues on infants

Fortunately, this condition of ankyloglossia on infants is easy to correct. A simple snip of the connecting membrane under the tongue with a micro scissor is all that is needed to correct the problem. There is little or no feeling in this area for the infant during the first 6 months of age. With proper technique, the process is quick and allows the child to immediately begin proper nursing or feeding. Since ankyloglossia or tongue tie is a hereditary issue, it is common for siblings to have the same problem. With immediate care, nursing can resume and a favorable outcome can be achieved for both mother and child.

Is Munchkin a Good Baby Bottle Brush?

After having three kids, I have tried so many separate kinds of bottle brushes over the years. I find that one of the best bottle cleaner that I have ever used is the Munchkin Baby Bottle Brush.

It is like having three things in one. Not only that you are able to fully clean the bottle with it's sturdy bristles, it also has a small screw in nipple brush that you can use to clean the nipple or hard to reach small edges of the bottle, which is great. Once you are done with the small nipple brush you can truly hide it in the lowest of the brush and on the other side of it is a suction cup on the lowest so it won't get lost. The suction cup makes it easy to stay in place on the sink until you need it. It is easier to grab a hold of the brush when it is time for you to wash the bottles.

Munchkin Bottle Nipple Brush

The other brands of brushes I have used are often flimsy and doesn't last that long. With the Munchkin Baby Bottle brush you can select from a variety of colors that adds color to your kitchen. The handle is sturdy and is shaped perfectly which makes it easy to grab hold of and use. The nipple brush is well secret in the handle for easy Storage. The suction cup sticks to the counter.

Baby Bottle Cleaning - Clean the White Spots in the bottom of the Bottle Without Scrubbing

Cleaning a baby bottle isn't the easiest thing to do without the proper bottle brush. It is a more simple process than years ago when everything had to be sterilized. Boil the bottle, boil the nipple and then boil the water you use to make the formula.

Now you just choose the best bottle brush and wash away. However, none of them seem to work very well for the bottom. One thing you can never seem to get rid of is those petite white spots in the bottom of the bottle. They are a build up of the sugars in the recipe clinging to the plastic in the baby bottle. It doesn't matter how good you try to clean them or how often you clean them, they some how seem to appear.

Munchkin Bottle Nipple Brush

I had this same qoute with my first baby and I was so embarrassed when a friend of mine commented on it. She said, "You see those petite white spots in the bottom of your babies bottle?" as my face went red from humiliation. She went on to clue me that if I put a combine of drops of bleach in the bottle and then fill with water, they would be gone by morning. I tried it that night and it worked terrific.

I am not sure what work on these petite white spots have on our petite babies and probably never will. They most likely are inoffensive as my first baby never seemed to have any problems, but I sure felt good after looking this great cleaning tip. I always check out babies bottles to see if they are white spot free and I have shared this tip with many mommies.

Try this cleaning tip and share it! You will see, soon our babies will be safe from the white spotted baby bottles!
